Maritime Piracy Incidents Map

An analysis of all the maritime piracy and armed robbery incidents reported to the IMB Piracy Reporting Centre up to June 2011.

Schematics are included showing:

• the locations of maritime piracy and armed robbery attacks against different ship classifications between 2009 and 2011
• regional statistics including pie charts
• NEW maritime piracy attack density information for 2010 and 2011 depicting the piracy attack hotspots
• the main locations of incidents (2006-2011)
• a breakdown of actual and attempted maritime piracy and armed robbery attacks (2006-2011)
• levels of violence against crew and passengers involved in piracy incidents (2006-2011)
• the location of the Maritime Security Patrol area, introduced in January 2009 updated in August 2009 to the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor (IRTC)” information
